Netflix has long been synonymous with streaming movies and TV shows, but did you know that offer a hidden perk to their subscribers?
Enter Netflix mobile games, a new addition to the Netflix experience that brings interactive entertainment right to your fingertips.
Here’s what you need to know.
What Are Netflix Mobile Games?
With a Netflix subscription, you and your family have unlimited access to more than 50 mobile games at no additional cost. They are available for Android phones & tablets, as well as iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Many of these games already exist in the app store as paid apps, but you get them for free because Netflix has bought licensed versions for subscribers. Best of all, there are no ads, no extra fees, and no in-app purchases.
What’s more, all the games have a maturity rating so that you can decide what is appropriate for the people in your household.
What Netflix Games Are Available?
Netflix has something for everyone and plenty of titles to choose from. Genres include action, adventure, arcade, party, puzzle, role-play, and strategy.
Some games are based on Netflix Originals like Stranger Things, Nailed It, Narcos, and Too Hot to Handle. The rest are really solid mobile games that are already on the App Store and Play Store with a successful track record.
The most recent release is Bloons TD 6, an addictive tower defense game that I have put way too many hours into recently, and Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, a dungeon crawler puzzle game.
Other top titles include Tomb Raider Reloaded, Layla’s Horizon, Heads Up, Exploding Kittens, and 12 Minutes (featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe).
How to Find Netflix Games
You can find all the available games in the Netflix app. There is a section in the app called “Mobile Games” where you can scroll sideways to see all the available games.
However, if you want to see all the games on one page, try the links below:
Android phones and tablets need to be able to run Android 8.0 or later, while iPhone and iPads require iOS 15 or later.
What Else You Need to Know
You play Netflix games using your Netflix account and your Netflix profile. The first time you open the game, you will be asked to sign in with a Netflix account and choose the profile you want to play with.
Netflix games aren’t available for kid profiles. That doesn’t mean they can’t be played by kids, (they can play on an adult profile), but the data associated with the game will be saved to an adult Netflix profile.
As you play, game progress is saved to the Netflix profile that you originally picked, either through cloud saves or locally on your device.
Netflix games can be played on multiple devices that are signed in to the same account. There is a limit to the number of devices you can play on at one time, but Netflix does not really say what that limit is.
However, if you hit your device limit, Netflix will let you know. You can free up a slot by signing out of one of the devices that are not in use.
Final Thoughts
Netflix Games is a little like Apple Arcade. It doesn’t boast nearly as many games, but the principal is the same. Free games with no ads or in-app purchases.
Are you going to play all 60+ games? Probably not, but there is plenty of variety here and new games are released on a regular basis. So, if you like to game, and you already have a Netflix subscription, this is an easy sell.
